Work continues on the Big Mek Junka...

I still need to do the lower turrets but I started doing some of the plating anyway because I was watching the telly and didn't want to get up to get more supplies. :)

I'd like to credit my wife with finding the lid I'm using as the top turret.  I was looking all over the place for something and then she says how about this?  I look at it and its the perfect size!  Good job honey!

Iron Hands army

I've been building up my 30k Iron Hands army for the past several months and I now have just about everything built and purchased.  I may pick up some pf the Gorgon Terminators when they come out but I don't plan to get much more for the army.  Maybe one more unit to ride in a drop pod.  Ah, who am I kidding.  There's no telling what else I may get for this army...

The army was built using the 30k Forge World marines but its written up as a Clan Raakan list so that I can use it in regular 40k games.

Couldn't resist Ferrus Manus.  Should be fun in Apoc games.

 Forge Masters and Tech Marines.

Some various characters to lead units

Some more characters to lead units

This is a shot of the regular marines.  I've got a few others I am waiting for some weapons before I build them.  They are all MKIII marines.

 Couple of their razor backs

 Other two razor backs.

Optional twin linked Lascannon for one of the razorbacks

These are the sternguard.  These are the Iron Hands specific MKIII marines.

Heavy weapons.  4 Lascannons make up a full devastator squad.  Missile Launcher joins one of the tactical squads.

Mechanicum Tech Tralls with Tech Preist.  I'm not sure what I am going to do with these guys.  I had been building a Mechanicum force to fight along side my Iron Hands but I have decided to sell or trade them away.  Two reasons primarily, 1. I can't use them in 40k games because they are severally undercosted 2. I dont really have the funds to continue building the army at this time.  I may use them as allied scions if I keep them.

It wouldn't be an Iron Hands army without a thunderfire cannon...

Old Predator conversion from about 10 years ago but it fits the army so I am using it as well.  I'm going to magnetize the sponsoons which is why they are removed at the moment.

Couple of dreadnoughts and the contemptor.  I'm not really sure how to equip the dreads at this time.  I may go double autocannons, assault/autocannon, or maybe a plasma cannon.  Anyone got an suggestions?

In a trade I made years ago I got 4 drop pods.  I gave two of them to my sons to play with.  They like to use them with their Halo guys to deep strike behind enemy lines. :)  So I stuck some etched brass on these two and they joined the Iron Hands.  I dont have any units for them.  I was thinking about putting the dreads in them perhaps or adding another unit to be mounted in one.

So that's the army.  I'm not really much of a marine player but I have always had a soft spot for the cold uncompromising Iron Hands.  I actually sold my previous Iron Hands army to make this Iron Hands army, something my brother and wife loved to mock me about. :)

More Cultists

I had these flagellents for a long while but finally did something with them.  The arms are from the Victoria Lamb Penal Legions and the heads, I think, are from the Moss Guard.

I really dont need any more cultists as I have about 200 or so but what the heck.  The more the merrier.

Mekboy Junka Part 1

I've been on a bit of ork vehicle kick lately so I decided to build a Big Mek Junka.  I love all the options the rules give you for one of these.  They can virtually look like anything you can imagine.

I can't draw worth a flip but I sketched a simple outline of what I was shooting for and then started cutting.  I've only had a few hours to work on it so progress has been slow but it's getting there...

The tracks are from Puppetswar out of Poland.  They look really good and I didn't want to bother with building the tracks so these worked out well.

Anyone got any ideas on what do do with the front?  I was thinking of using one of the skull plates from the stompa but not really sure what to do there at the moment.

Evil Sunz Kill Bursta round 3

Got quite a lot of weather done. I've still got the exhaust and tracks to go. I also have to make a top hatches as I misplaced on of them.

I've done some more work on the Kill Bursta. I still have a long way to go but its getting there.

This is a buggy from Maxmini. I haven't decided how I want to arm it yet, probably rokkets though.

Forge World Kill Blasta PIP

I've had a kill blasta and kill bursta setting on my shelf for some time now.  With the disappointment of the new guard codex I shifted my energy back to my orks and decided not to paint anything for guard at the moment.  The new codex is fairly bland and seems to have less options than the one it replaced and really there is nothing new so I'll likely not mess with them much for a while longer.

Strangely enough the Orks continue to be fun even after all these years.  So back to the Orks and their monstrous mekinations.

Here's a pic of it after the initial airbrushing.

Here's how it sits at the moment as I weather it.  I need to still add some rust and paint all those cables. But its getting there...

I've prime the Kill Bursta red and will paint it after this one is complete.  After that I will painting the Stompa in Bad Moon colors like this fellow here.

Other Kromlech Items

In addition to the previous two post's items I also got a few other misc items from Kromlech.

Some of the new Gnaws.  These are like huge squigs.  I'm thinking I may try to convert some ork legs to mount on these.  I always though orks riding great squigs would be a great model.  Now I just need to get some WFB orc boar boy legs...

I also got some of the orc defensive walls.  I can't wait to use these to hide my lootas behind and open fire!

Lastly I picked up one of the newer great coat nobs.  This guy looks great.  He comes with a heavy machine gunner that I have assembled yet.  This guy will make a great leader for a great coat mob or maybe even a warboss.

Kromlech Armoured Orc Squad

I picked up some armoured orcs with the clanking behemoth and quickly got them assembled.

I really like the details.  I plan to order more arms for another project underway.  I wish I could buy the legs separately but since the legs and torsos are one piece its not possible.  Maybe they will release some armoured legs later.

You can get them equipped for hand to hand or shooting.  I got both just to see how they compared.

You can get the arms separately which is great.  I plan to do another ard boy unit down the line.

The one thing I don't especially care for are the faces.   They aren't bad just not the style I prefer.

Here they are assembled and ready for a scarp.

They come with a Nob too.  I really like this guy.  He looks mean and tough.  His power fist is great as well.  Nice to see something different than the usual power claw.
